Steyn Skyler is a contemporary artist from Amsterdam, known for his distinctive use of bold shapes, layered imagery and recurring butterfly motifs.

His work started with graffiti and street art before moving into graphic design and eventually painting. For years, canvas was at the centre of his practice, combining portraiture, texture and graphic elements into original works that sit somewhere between fine art and contemporary design.

In recent years, Skyler has started taking his work beyond the traditional canvas. His shaped artworks have become an increasingly important part of his practice: individually designed silhouettes where the artwork itself determines its physical form. Butterflies often return throughout these pieces, sometimes as a detail and sometimes as the entire shape. Alongside one-of-one originals, he is also developing limited collectibles and small editions, bringing the same visual language into new formats.

Skyler’s work has been shown at locations including the World Trade Center Amsterdam and A’DAM Tower, as well as exhibitions, art fairs and collaborative projects. At the same time, much of his journey is happening online. Through social media, he shares the process behind new works, experiments and releases with a growing international audience, allowing people to follow a piece from its first idea to the finished artwork.

A central part of Skyler’s vision is making art feel accessible to a new generation. He believes collecting art shouldn’t feel distant or reserved for a select few. By working across original paintings, shaped works, limited editions and collectibles, he creates different ways for people to connect with and own art. Whether it is someone’s first piece or part of a growing collection, the idea remains the same: art is for everyone.

Rather than working within one fixed format, Skyler continues to move between canvas, shaped works and collectible art. Each new piece becomes part of an evolving body of work, while leaving room to experiment with new materials, forms and ideas.
